Would you like to add language training to traditional babysitting? Then you’ve come to the right place. Upgrades’ babysitting is not only picking up the children from school, cooking and caring for them – we do all that with language development at the heart of it all. Our customers, the families, often wish to elevate and curate a special interest in language in their children, or prepare them for a move abroad. Babysitting in English is our most popular service, but we also have many clients who request babysitting in French, Spanish, German and more.
We at Upgrades never want learning at a young age to be coerced. That’s why we use song, music, storytelling, drawing and arts and crafts – based on the season of the year or specific themes – to learn through play. Based on the child’s interests, individual level of proficiency and mood we interweave babysitting with creativity and teaching the language of choice.
How It Works
Signing up and client presentation
The partnership begins with you signing up. When you wish to proceed you fill in a client presentation with your specific requirements
Matching and free-of-charge meeting
Within about 2 weeks we’ll present a fitting babysitter, and a time for a first, free of charge, meeting. We follow up to ensure that both you and the babysitter are satisfied with the matching, and then help you choose a setup
Continual follow-up and evaluation
During the following babysitting period, the babysitter will continuously report their times and what they’ve done at each specific appointment on your client portal.

Who are your babysitters? (BR o HLR)
Our babysitters are often in active studies and have all completed high school level education. They work part-time at Upgrades and they all love to work with children (and have a keen interest in languages!). Usually our babysitters are from other countries but they all have at least basic knowledge of Swedish. We are also able to provide bilingual babysitters, if requested.
All Upgrades babysitters, as part of their introduction to childcare, receive our training package that includes:
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation for children (CPR)
- Child safety in the home
During assignments, babysitters can always turn to our pedagogical team if they have any questions or queries.
In line with regulations for childcare in Sweden, we receive police criminal records checks for all our babysitters.
What is included in language focused babysitting?
Upgrades language focused babysitting includes traditional childcare tasks such as school collection, food preparation, and childcare in the home, mixed with a pedagogical focus on the family’s language of choice.
You can also purchase tailored lessons alongside the babysitting, these are taught by your Upgrades babysitter.
Note: Lessons are not covered by the RUT tax reduction and only available in combination with babysitting.
How do we get started?
Once you have decided that you would like to proceed with Upgrades babysitting, the next step is to complete a customer presentation (link). Upon receipt of the presentation we will email you to let you know we have begun the process of matching a babysitter to your family’s needs/requirements. This process usually takes 1-2 weeks and a first meeting is then scheduled.
What is covered by the Upgrades satisfaction guarantee?
Upgrades offers a satisfaction guarantee which means that you do not pay unless you are satisfied with the babysitter after the first session. If you are not satisfied, we will find a new babysitter for your family. The first meeting with the babysitter is always free-of-charge and non-binding.

What is the booking and cancellation policy?
The family books in times directly with the babysitter, the same prices apply across all weekdays and times. Free cancellation can be made up to 12 hours before the scheduled babysitting session. Cancellation with less than 12 hours’ notice results in a cancellation fee of SEK 200, which is to compensate the babysitter.
