General Information

Upgrades is partnered with Chalmers University of Technology for the provision of language courses.
We provide both centralized Swedish courses (three main courses per year) as well as tailored courses in English and Swedish.

Centralized Swedish courses

The centralized courses are open to all Chalmers employees. You are required to provide the name of your institution and line manager.
Via the below link or course schedule tab, you are able to find our upcoming Swedish courses and register directly. More information regarding tailored courses can be found further down on this page.

There will be three course starts per year, and each course consists of 13 sessions:

Please note the following:

  • It is important that you keep attending for the full duration of the course you signed up for.
  • Courses may be cancelled if attendance is low.
  • If you do not attend, you may not be able or allowed to continue on to the next level.
  • There are no lessons on national holidays.
  • There are no regular courses above level B2 part 2, but after this level you can register for the conversation course.
  • You need to be an employee for the full duration of the course and have your supervisor/manager’s approval.

Tailored courses – Swedish and English

Upgrades tailor-made language training strengthens the language skills of an individual or a group of participants. We do this by taking theoretical teaching in grammar, word comprehension and communication with materials and exercises linked to the participants’ working life (where applicable).

If you would like to arrange tailored one-on-one or group lessons in either Swedish or English, please contact chalmers@upgrades.se or click on the link below.

CEFR-scale

Upgrades uses the CEFR-scale (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) for our language courses. With the help of the CEFR-scale, language skills are specified between A1-C2. Level A1 equals a beginner level and C2 an advanced.

If you are unsure as to which course level you should select, please take the language test below. The test will open in a new window and your result will be shown directly on the screen. You can then return to the booking page and proceed with your registration.

Social Activities

Upgrades provides social activities with a language focus in addition to the standard courses.

The social activities offer a fun and educational social environment for language development. More information regarding social activities will be issued with course confirmations.
