You will work more with diverse vocabulary and idiomatic expressions, enriching your ability to participate in a broader variety of conversations. Topics may include personal interests, experience, and plans. 

Developing intermediate grammar:

Continuing from basic structures in grammar on A1 levels, the course will present intermediate grammar concepts, such as past and future tenses, conditional sentences, and complex sentence structure. 

Enhance your verbal proficiency:

Interactive discussion and role-plays will be presented widely on this level that will help you to improve the confidence in expression your thoughts and sights in different everyday contexts, such as appointments, travelling, shopping, meeting with friends. 

Listening and reading skills: 

By the end of this level, you are expected to be able to read and interpret a short descriptive texts and news article in easy Swedish. Podcasts and radio recordings with a slower speaking rate will be included in the content, and you will practise on listening and comprehend them, and being able to retell later. 

Cultural awareness: 

During this level you will continue to explore cultural topics, adapted to your language proficiency. A further exploration will be conducted through discussions and activities, inspired of authentic interactional situations. 

From A2.1. level your Swedish studies will be targeted more towards greater speaking fluency and listening comprehension, strengthening the grammar fundament for a better writing performance.

By the end of the course, you are expected to be able to use practical language in social and travel situations.

More solid and varied vocabulary:

You continue to focus on the practical phrases and descriptions for an easier navigation in the Swedish society. The course will help you to expand the vocabulary for a wider social networking at the workplace or other social companies.

Developing Intermediate Grammar:

You will continue practicing a basic Swedish grammar and learning how to structure simple and complex sentences in Swedish. You will learn how to use the grammatical structures correctly and implement your knowledge in communication.

Enhance your verbal proficiency:

You will practice on initiating and participating in face-to-face discussions on topics as work relations, daily routines and descriptions of people you have met and situations you have experienced. You will also learn how to describe places, objects, habits and the hobby activities.

Listening and reading skills:

You will work on enhancing your ability to understand longer discussions around you and effectively express yourself. You are expected to initiate and actively lead these conversations, even if your vocabulary and linguistic repertoire are limited.

Practising and developing grammar skills to the next level:

The grammar instruction in this course is presented as “Communicative grammar”, designed to support your use of the Swedish in the situations where you are expected to demonstrate the competence in everyday life and in work and professional contexts. 

Gathering and processing information within medium-length texts:

Along with other skills you will practise reading of non-complex factual texts about well-known topics. The texts will be outlined for the professional and work areas, and hobbies. The contexts will comprise daily and slightly formal vocabulary with high frequency.

Welcome to our B1.2 Swedish course! Mondays 17:00-19:15

At this level you demonstrate a solid ability to use language effectively in various situations. You continue to further develop areas from level B1.1, with an additional focus on expanding your linguistic repertoire comprehensively.

Communication and interaction:

You are expected to be able to receive and forward verbal and written messages describing a problem or a task. Additionally, you should be able to contribute your own reflections to advance the discussion. 

Correct language structures in speaking and writing production:

Your language should be clear and comprehensible, with mostly correct sentence structures (some mistakes are allowed). The focus should be on making yourself understood and being ready to participate in discussions or exchange views spontaneously. 

Increasing self-confidence in practical use of language skills:

Generally, courses on B-levels are designed to help intermediate learners become more self-assured in all language skills. The course objectives aim to help you to enhance fluency, by engaging in interactive activities and discussions that encourage spontaneous use of the language, helping you to speak more naturally and fluidly.

Welcome to our B2.1 Swedish course! Thursdays 14:15-16:30

Welcome to the second part of B-level! 

Once you start learning B2.1 you can mark a successful completion of A2 and B1 levels. The course goals at this level significantly shift from the previous content and are characterized with two new features. 

Verbal communication and interaction:

The exercises on this level are designed to improve your communications skills for being able to present and prove your opinions in a discussion by providing relevant explanations, arguments and comments. The course will help you to train clearly how to state your opinion, evaluate alternative proposals, present and counter others’ statements. One of the new features concerns your ability to converse naturally, fluently and effectively. 

Listening comprehension: 

You work further on improving your listening and speaking skills simultaneously. Your listening comprehension is aimed to progress to a stage where you can understand in detail what is said to you in standard language, even in a noisy environment. 

Grammatical skills:

The second new feature for the course on B2.1 level is coaching you on how to increase your level of linguistic awareness. The Swedish grammar that you have learnt so far, in combination with exercises on pre-advanced level will help to find to identify and correct mistakes that can led to misunderstandings. 

During the study period on B2.1 level you will be introduced to a new threshold that every language learner must overcome in order to level up.

Welcome to our B2.2 Swedish course! Tuesdays 16:00-18:15

The lessons on B2.2 will help you to strengthen the performance of your skills and help you to build up a solid linguistic awareness in Swedish. The focus areas remain almost the same – the argumentation technic in verbal communication and effective social discourse. At the end of this course, the discourse competence in Swedish should be raised to a higher level that can be demonstrated through the ability to control using of the language. You will also work on refining the collaborative strategies through extensive writing, reading and listening.

Smoothly interaction with native speakers:

This level focuses on certain communication points related to negotiations. You will practice on how to argue for your rights in the situations concerning compensations and establishing boundaries. The phrases and vocabulary will help you to use persuasive language and simple arguments. 

Grammar resources and writing:

You will train to write clear, detailed descriptions of various topics within your area of interest, as well as a review of a film, book or play. 

Fluency in reading and information seeking:

With the support of an expanded vocabulary and heightened linguistic awareness, you will become more independent in seeking and extracting information from texts without assistance, although you may not understand every word and expression.
