A high level of English today is a requirement for most companies and organizations. Without English that functions well in the workplace, employees can inhibit their development. The goal with our intermediate courses in English is to develop work-related English, so that participants are prepared to take the next step in their careers. The courses train the participants in business English and also includes important everyday English. English B1 is suitable for groups who have good basic skills in English. English B2 is for groups who have very good skills in English. At Upgrades, we can help test the levels of your participants to identify the group level.
Our intermediate courses in English are designed to develop the participants’ English in an effective and motivating way. We alternate theoretical instruction in grammar, comprehension and communication with exercises linked to the English work atmosphere. In order for the course to be as useful as possible, we focus on both oral and written and communication.
Between the classes, we challenge the participants to work independently through exercises, as well as online and app-based language training.
Our intermediate courses in English consist of ten lessons. We recommend one to two sessions per week. During the English B1 course, we focus on oral and written communication. The goal is for participants to be able to participate in simple discussions, instructions, society, culture and tradition as well as to distinguish between spoken and written language. Grammatical focus areas: the main clause; subordinate clause; differences between verb tenses – perfect, past and future; differences between adjectives and adverbs; reflexive and indefinite pronouns; prepositions of time and conjunctions. During the English B2 course, we take an even further step with the language. The goal of this course is to enable participants to express most of their thoughts – both written and spoken. They should also be able to understand and talk about current events; therefore, we include newspaper articles, fiction, radio and television as integral parts of this course.
